Paris, banks of Seine - World Heritage Site, France
Paris a city forever in love.
The Eiffel Tower is probably the most recognized structure in the world. It is a hunk of metal, just a tower, not that tall and not very colorful. It isn't architecture, it is sort of an engineering marvel, it isn't exactly very breathtaking. IT IS BEAUTIFUL. WHAT IT REPRESENTS IS BIGGER than everything else it is supposed to be. It is a symbol of love, it is a symbol of hope, it is a symbol of beauty and a dream. When I see it, when my wife sees it, when people see it, it evokes a sense of wanting to be there, hand in hand with your one true love, and never coming back.
I was looking for a photo of all of Paris. I thought an image would present itself from the top of the Eiffel but then the Eiffel wasn't in it. I waited for a shadow to be cast, but that wasn't enough. Then I looked for the next highest vantage point. This was it. From here, the Eiffel gave me a sense of where we were and below the Seine coursed its way pumping life into this city. I waited for a boat to come, and when it did, I knew this was my shot.
This now hangs on a canvas print on my living room, taking up prime real estate on the walls of a photographer's home.
